CAROLINE IN THE CITY (1997-1998)
TV Series- NBC
This half-hour sitcom centers around the life of the title character Caroline (Lea Thompson), a syndicated cartoonist who works from her New York apartment. She and her assistant/colorist Richard (Malcolm Gets) enjoy a combative but romantic tension which had never been consummated or openly declared. Sofia entered the show toward the end of their second year as Julia Karinsky -- Richard's newlywed, passionate, spoiled and sophisticated love interest. She became the rival of Caroline, snatching Richard away into a not-so-blissful marriage before Caroline could express her true feelings. "It was fun and yet challenging to play a sometimes very bitchy 'Julia'," said Sofia, "and in spite of her abrasive behavior, still make her lovable to a very large audience."
